Community Mental Health Centers or Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics are local agencies that provide low-cost mental health care to members of a community. To find a location, visit https://findtreatment.gov/locator and look for results that list "Payment Accepted: Community Mental Health Block Grants" For a list of our current counseling fees visit our Fees page.
Rather use your insurance benefits? Most of our counselors accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Health Choice, Aetna, and United/ Optum, as well as other insurances. We encourage all prospective new clients to contact their insurance plan to review their coverage before starting counseling services.
Some clinicians offer sliding scale fees, which adjust the counseling price to one's level of income. One way to connect with a therapist who offers a sliding scale rate is to use the Psychology Today's Therapist Finder, search for a therapist in your area, then filter the results by the option "sliding scale" in the price menu.
Most large companies provide their employees with an "Employee Assistance Program" (EAP) which provides a limited number of free counseling sessions. If your or your spouse's employer offers an EAP, you may contact the company's Human Resources Department for details and be connected with providers.
Universities that offer graduate degrees in counseling often have clinics on campus for students training to become mental health clinicians. These counseling services are often free or low-cost for people living in the community.
State-funded health insurance may be available to those who are without coverage and on a limited income. Contact your local Department of Human Services to find out if you qualify for Medicaid.
