I grew up in Western Oklahoma and currently reside in the Edmond area. I enjoy spending time with my family, observing nature and wildlife, gardening, listening to music and podcasts, watching documentaries, and reading.
My passion is empowering others through affirmation, advocacy, education, self-exploration, and skill development. I enjoy working with adults navigating stressors, issues around aging, relationships, gender issues, disenfranchisement, anger, recovery maintenance, and life transitions. In my practice I frequently treat chronic grief, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and post-traumatic stress.
I have been working in mental health since 2008. This has included working with diverse populations in terms of age, gender, race, sexuality, and socioeconomic status. I have provided services in residential treatment centers, outpatient treatment programs, specialty courts, partial hospitalization programs, and medication assisted treatment programs.
I employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused modalities, and Harm Reduction strategies with my clients. I am also informed in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Behavioral Activation (BA) approaches.
My clients and colleagues often describe me as thorough, insightful, logical, pragmatic, direct, and intelligent. In my work I strive to be ethical, respectful, understanding, open-minded, empathetic, supportive, and collaborative.
