I am proud to have been born and raised in Oklahoma City, Ok. I graduated from Millwood High School in 2000 and attended the University of Central Oklahoma, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy in 2006. I earned a Master’s of Science degree from Oklahoma State University in Community Counseling in 2009 while also working as a case manager for Edwin Fair Community Mental Health in Stillwater, Ok.
I moved back to Oklahoma City and began working as a mental health therapist in 2009 in several outpatient mental health agencies where I worked with children, adolescents, and adults and helped coordinate a therapy program for an alternative school in the Putnam City Schools district for children and adolescents. I became a fully licensed professional counselor in 2011.
I then worked in several inpatient hospital settings beginning in 2012 through most of 2023, briefly at Cedar Ridge, but mostly at St. Anthony’s Hospital where I worked with teens and children in various units.
I have been privileged to work with clients on such life challenges as depression, poor anger management, stress management, anxiety, poor self-esteem, existential concerns, identity concerns, poor relationships, suicidal thoughts, trauma, and sexual behavior problems.
I aim to create a safe, honest, empathic, and supportive atmosphere in therapy where you feel listened to and understood. I believe that the relationship between myself and the client is the foundation of what helps therapy to be a life-changing experience. I also believe each person brings to therapy everything they need to achieve change in their life and my aim is to help them see it, unlock it, and use it in a healthy way.
I generally utilize client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and solution focused theories and techniques to help guide my practice. I also like to incorporate art and writing into sessions to help people use their creativity in their journey toward self-discovery and change.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family, reading, watching and studying films, writing, watching sports, video gaming, and learning at least one new thing daily.
I look forward to meeting you!
