I was raised in Western Oklahoma and moved to Stillwater in 2010 to complete my undergraduate degrees at Oklahoma State University. There, I completed degrees in Psychology and Multidisciplinary Studies as I worked as a research assistant and student tutor. I then moved to Edmond in 2014 to complete my graduate degree in Counseling Psychology, where I also served as a student therapist and teaching assistant.
I am a client-centered, cognitive behavioral-oriented therapist who works with grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other difficulties that keep us from thriving. I serve members of the LGBTQIA+ community and those struggling with religious/secular issues. I aim to create a safe environment for expression and exploration. I have experience working with adults, adolescents, and children with a variety of challenges. I engage with clients in an individual, group, or family therapeutic environment, depending on the need.
Along with serving clients, I also create continuing education seminars for mental health professionals and write. I often lecture on ethics and mandated reporting in regards to social media, domestic violence in rural Oklahoma, considerations for serving the non-religious, and suicidal ideation. I am also a certified Question, Persuade, Refer trainer. I have also coauthored a chapter within the textbook Working with Grief and Traumatic Loss: Theory, Practice, Personal Self-Care, and Reflection for Clinicians, which is set to be published in October 2019.
In my spare time, I write for a satirical website, officiate weddings, spend time with my husband, and read about world history. Whether for my clinical practice or just for fun, I love to learn and am grateful for each opportunity I have to do so.
